One of the most effective ways to learn about government is to practice the skills of citizenship. The purpose of this writing project is to identify a civic need that you are concerned about and begin to figure out how to solve it. Your proposal should contain three sections outlined as follows:
Section 1 (150 words) DEFINE THE NEED: What is the area you are most concerned about and why. It should be clear from this first section, why you want to pursue this project, and what the need is for the community.
Section 2 (150 words) PUBLIC PROBLEM: Problems are public in nature when they impact more than one person and any solution requires actions from multiple groups. In this section define the public nature of this problem. Who are some of the different members of the community, state, or country that are also impacted by this problem? How are they impacted? What are some of your initial thoughts about different ways to solve this problem?
Section 3 (100 words) HOOK: What resources do you think are needed to solve or being to address this problem? Why should your classmates or community members care or engage with this project?
